"Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children in the faith, prayer and all virtues. They have the duty to provide as far as possible for the physical and spiritual needs of their children"----Catechism of the Catholic Church, Article 2252
Ste. Marie Parish is committed to assisting and supporting parents in fulfilling the promise they made for their children at Baptism to raise them in the Faith.
There are two necessary components to the religious education of every child and adult:
Both components are required.
1. Comprehensive Catechesis (includes continuing education for adults) which provide the 'big picture' and the means to continue to mature in the Faith.
This comprehensive component of Catechesis is met through one of the following:
1. Catholic School Attendance
or
2. Full Catholic Homeschool Curriculum
or
3. Families Formed in Christ--family-based religious education at Ste. Marie
2. Sacramental Preparation prepares a child for each particular sacrament. This is done at the parish level.***PLEASE NOTE: in the diocese of NH, all children are prepared at their parishes for each Sacrament regardless of Catholic School or Catholic Homeschool participation. ***If your child is of Sacramental age (age 5 or 6) please contact the parish.
We are happy to assist you with the faith formation of your child.
